Classwork Reflection

In class today we were answering questions that our teacher put up on the board. We had five questions we had to answer to make sure we knew them.

What is Volume??

Mr Markin Has given us five questions to answer to make sure we know them.

1) What is Volume?

The amount of 3-dimensional space something takes up.

Imagine how much water could be in it.

Also called Capacity.
Volume

For this example the volume is 10 × 4 × 5 = 200 units3

2) What units for Volume

Units of volume include:
• Metric: cubic centimeters (cm3), cubic meters (m3), liters
• US Standard: fluid ounce, cubic inch, cubic foot, pints, gallons

3) How can we workout the volume of a cube or a cuboid?

so to work out the volume we need to know 3 measurements.

  cuboid
Look at this shape.

There are 3 different measurements:

Length,   Width,   Height

The volume is found using the formula:

Volume = Length × Width ×  Height

Which is usually shortened to:

V = l × w × h

Or more simply:

V = lwh

In Any Order
It doesn't really matter which one is length, width or height, so long as you multiply all three together.

4) What is a prisim?

My Revision for today

Today In maths We have been learning about finding the voulume of solid shapes. At first it was hard but it got easier as the day went on.
At first i didnt understand the difference of the cm and the cm2 but now that it was explained to me i understood.
Now all i need to do is practise the voulume with my parents.
